Description: 

Hear and discuss the future of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the expansion into north St. Louis.  The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s St. Louis Area Working Group brings together professionals to create and sustain careers in the geospatial field.   Learn about how organizations throughout the Saint Louis region play a pivotal role in the geospatial industry.

Next NGA West (N2W) Deputy Program Director

Mr. Tom Bukoski is Deputy Director of the Next NGA West (N2W) Program Management Office, providing leadership to the Next NGA West campus program.  He is engaged in coordinating staff, helping develop N2W requirements, and setting the stage for facility construction and operations. 

Before assuming his present assignments he was the Head of the Program and Office Administration Career Service and NGA’s Business Improvement Officer. He served as Assistant Program Manager for Design and Construction in NGA’s Campus East Program Management Office between November 2005 and July 2011 where he led NGA’s facilities design and construction efforts for the NGA Campus East with the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Mr. Bukoski is a facility planner/architect with facilities planning, design, construction, facilities management, and environmental compliance experience in both the public and private sectors.  Before joining the NGA in 2003, he managed the Alexandria, VA office of Woolpert, LLP, an architect-engineer firm.  He also managed safety and environmental compliance programs and facilities for BDM-Oklahoma operator of the National Institute of Petroleum and Energy Research in Bartlesville, OK. 

Tom completed naval service as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps officer serving in a variety of assignments including Director of Base Operations at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD; Head of Facilities Planning and Real Estate at the Chesapeake Division; Environmental Compliance Officer for construction of the Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA; and Assistant Public Works Officer at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Butler, He also managed construction at the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, VA and remote sites in the Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Bukoski holds a B. A. in Architecture from Iowa State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Kansas.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. 

 

Steven Thomas

Ball Aerospace & Technology Corporation, Director of Advanced Systems and Manager of Business Development

 Chairman of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) St Louis Are Working Group (SLAWG), whose mission is to Support or build new geospatial centric pipelines designed to educate and train individuals in geospatial tradecraft. Grow and sustain a populace within St. Louis and surrounding regions that possess the necessary geospatial skillsets to quality for and fill existing and future NGA or geospatial industry analytic and management careers   He recently had a story published in “Trajectory,” the official magazine of USGIF, about the need for well-trained GIS candidates from our area who are ready to enter the workforce.

A decorated military veteran of the United States Navy with 20 years of experience working in the intelligence community, Steven is director of advanced systems and manager of business development for Ball Aerospace and Technologies in St. Louis. There, he oversees a number of government contracts and develops business strategies for his company. Prior to joining Ball Aerospace, he served as the Director of Technical Operations for NJVC and served as the NJVC Program Manager for the NGA West Modernization contract.
